Bunker Renovation Project - 2019
DESCRIPTION
Located within a thriving residential community, Westlake's golf course serves as a primary recreational amenity for their '55 and over' active adult residents.
The club retained our services in 2018 to study the bunkering. Like many clubs in this era, Westlake had not been able to reinvest in its golf infrastructure for some time. One of the more glaring shortcomings of the course had become its bunkers, which were severely adulterated, drained poorly and were perhaps too numerous and difficult for the typical caliber of player at the Club.
We devised a plan that addressed the design, first and foremost... a reduction in the number of bunkers, but without losing the overall design intent. Then we developed an approach for reconstructing the bunkers in a timely and efficient manner that fit the Club's budget. This work was carried out with great success in the Fall of 2019, along with the construction expertise of Total Turf Services. We finished the project well ahead of schedule, under budget and without closing the course for play. Today, the bunkers are the star of the show!
