After assuming the original design and construction management of the Sunset Course initially in 2000, Drew continues his relationship with Mirasol and will assist in their efforts to maintain their lofty, private club status in South Florida.
In many ways, JDR’s efforts involve mainly restorative measures and minor refinements that will serve to address the evolving influences on the 13-year-old course. Other efforts will be centered on improving playability, maintenance efficiencies and enhancing the overall golfing experience.
The Sunset Course played host to the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic in 2003 and is enjoyed by some of the areas better players today. Still though, the course was designed as an amenity to the high-end real estate surrounding the course and was intended more as a member-friendly test.
JDR is also collaborating with Fazio Golf Course Designers in the rehabilitation of Mirasol’s extensive practice facilities.
