Caddie's Story - An Inspiration

Ben Cox, a caddie at Ballyneal Golf Club in Holyoke, Colorado, was paralyzed from the waist down after a tragic skiing accident in March of this year.   I learned about Ben through mutual connections on the popular GolfClubAtlas.com website. I recently joined up with a group of golf enthusiasts for a visit to the chop hills of Colorado and Nebraska Sand Hills.  While in the area our group took the chance to visit Ben at his home in Haxtun, Co, near Ballyneal.

A number of thoughtful and generous individuals have conducted fundraising campaigns, as well as a national group who is raffling off rounds of golf , golf equipment and memorabilia to raise money to help offset Ben's healthcare needs.

Ben's enthusiasm is amazing - and incredibly positive young man, despite his disability and misfortune.  Though he can no longer caddy in the same capacity that he did before, he has managed to get out and play golf a few times since his accident with the assistance of a personal buggy and his family and friends.  In January, he is planning on returning to Texas Tech University to finish his degree in Civil Engineering.

Here's to wishing Ben the very best of luck moving forward.  With all of his determination, there is little doubt that he will achieve all that he wants.
