Creating an Identity at Royal Poinciana

RP Cypress 14

Designing golf courses in South Florida can often produce repititious results, what with the  typically flat terrain and the need for ponds and lakes.  Even the color of the turf has a somewhat monotone presentation.  Designers must often turn to manufactured forms and odd contrivances to create more varied interest or contrast.  At Royal Poinciana Golf Club (Naples, Florida), JDR identified and executed design solutions that now render the course with a renewed, yet sensible identity - a completely new golf experience, full of classic architectural elements that are interwoven into the fabric of a typical south Florida landscape setting.  The "new identity" here will serve to define the prestige of such a well-regarded club as Royal Poinciana.
